NOTES OF THE METRIC MONTHS
FROM 72 TO 75 ASWW
To the
first note of the year
FAME
Fame itself is nothing to strive after.
Should you be striving after it nonetheless, let it be the average fame
of all persons.

QUALITY AND QUANTITY
Those who look at quality and quantity as opposites, literally,
disqualify neither quality nor quantity, but only themselves.
For the opposition is not between but within quality and within quantity:
between bad and good in the former case, and between little (or small)
and much (or large) in the latter.
35.SLL-75th Southern Mid-Lent
'REAL RIGHTS' ARE TWIN-RIGHTS
'Real rights' are discretionary: they are or comprise twin-rights.
As a right, freedom of thought or belief comprises the right to think or
believe (a particular thing) and the right not to think or believe (that
particular thing).
A right to life (and non-life) comprises a right to live on, and also a
right to end one's life.
And the right to pursue (one's own) happiness is the twin-right of the
right not to pursue happiness, or the happiness of others instead.
75.SEM-75th Southern Early Lent
A DEMERIT WITHOUT MERIT
It is a demerit to discriminate against other people;
it is not a merit to be or have been discriminated against.
75.SEM-75th Southern Equinoctial
CONSCIENTIZATION
Conscientization is the charity at the root, often neglected or forgotten.
74.SLL-75th Southern Mid-Yule
BAD IN THE ACTIVE IS NOT GOOD
IN THE PASSIVE
A person that discriminates against another person or against a nonperson
displays a bad quality.
This, however, does not logically correspond with a certain good quality
in the person or nonperson discriminated against.
True, those discriminated against may become or have grown stronger
because of what they experience or have experienced but they may also
become or have grown weaker because of that experience.
Neither the one nor the other follows automatically.

VALUES OR WHIMS

75.NLL-75th Equatorial Month
EQUALITY IN PEACE- AND WARTIME,
NO EQUALITY IN WAR- AND PEACETIME
Equality in peacetime is equality in wartime;
no equality in wartime is compensation in peacetime.
平时多平等,战时多平等;战时少平等,平时多补偿性。
75.NEM-75th Northern Late Lent
EQUALITY IS
A TWO-EDGED SWORD
It is perfectly right, even mandatory, to be treated as an equal person
among persons, but do not expect to be treated differently then; not
differently in your disfavor and not differently in your favor either.
If others are being admired, praised or rewarded, you should be admired,
praised or rewarded for the same thing or for something good of the same
quality requiring the same concentration, effort, responsibility and
suchlike, if applicable, not only in the present but also in the past.
However, if others are being criticized, blamed or punished, you should
be criticized, blamed or punished for the same thing or for something bad
with the same lack of quality, that is, equally bad or equally wrong.
Do not expect to be treated differently because you or a group to which
you belong used to be ignored, neglected or discriminated against before
your
equality was recognized and
effectuated.
(A compensation for wrongs suffered in the past may be part of this
effectuation but such a compensation is always temporary, and does not
reduce equality to 'a sword with one edge only'.)
75.NEM-75th Northern Mid-Lent
DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION
AS FASHION
Diversity in itself is an extremist value; inclusion
devoid of relevance as a principle an ungrounded
value.
Diversity and inclusion may be in fashion somewhere today,
without a proper understanding of their different
meanings they will be out of fashion again at the same place
tomorrow.
About thirty-two years after the publication of the paper version of the
Model of Neutral-Inclusivity, it
has become more and more fashionable to speak of 'diversity and
inclusion', or the other way around; and, less often, of 'diversity and
inclusivity' or 'inclusiveness', or the other way around.
Those using these terms appreciatively usually show an inclusive attitude,
of no small practical significance, in one or a few respects.
(It may not preclude them, however, from being partial or outright
exclusivistic in other respects.)
Unfortunately, their practical belief and behavior often lacks any
theoretical insight into the role of
relevancy in the making of
distinctions, which leaves their 'inclusivity' fundamentally
ungrounded.
Where the use of inclusion is devoid of a recognition of relevance
as a fundamental principle any critical theory, perhaps even one sharp
remark, can relatively easily deflate the normative message, and turn the
value of
inclusivity itself into a
laughingstock.
Clearly, the fate of diversity may be much worse than that —
and without a pivotal status for inclusiveness and relevance rightly so.
Those suggesting that diversity is something good in itself, rather than a
means to something else, do not realize that it would be, then, a
noninstrumental value of the type the more the better, and this ad
infinitum, which leaves their 'diversity' without any protection from
extremism.
For also the more diverse the better is, interpreted literally,
extremist rubbish.
What should count is the actually given diversity in a
society or in a community in which people act and organizations operate.
Social human inclusivity, which is a subfacet of a specific
facet of inclusivity,
requires the recognition in word and deed, not of diversity as such (as if
it were a fundamental value) but of this given, perhaps, needed, diversity
in a human society or community.
Diversity and inclusion may be in fashion somewhere today, without a
proper understanding of their different meanings they will be out of
fashion again at the same place tomorrow.

SYMBOLS ARE NOT
ENDS IN THEMSELVES
For the adherent of the
the DNI the existence of
Ananormative symbols
shall not be an ultimate end in itself, however much
'e may appreciate the
representative significance and beauty of these symbols.
What counts for the adherent of the DNI in 'er struggle against
extremism and
exclusivism is, first of all, that
the belief in, and the practising of, the
norms of neutrality and
inclusivity themselves will
eventually emerge victorious.
(See Literal, Metonymical and Verbal Symbolism, section 2.1.1 of the
Book of Symbols in the
paper Model.)

SYMBOL OR ANTISYMBOL —
TWO SIDES OF ONE COIN
Denominational or other ideological symbols need not be imposed on the
followers or adherents of a particular ideology in any way, but if they
are somehow imposed on people, they turn into unacceptable antisymbols.
The same symbol which represents something favored for the one (the
majority or the ones in power) will, then, represent something disfavored
for the other (a minority or the less powerful).
Thus, the symbols of state religionism are at the same time the
worst examples of antisymbols.
(See
On the Basis of
Acceptability, section 1.3.2 of the
Model
Book of Symbols.)

THE POWER MONO
The ideal of an only god —or, worse, 'Supreme Being'— who is
all-powerful is the ideal of those who, in theory, confuse the modal and
the normative spheres and who, in practice, want and try to monopolize
power.
42.NML-74th Southern Late Lent
I AM NOT BOTHERED, I AM
I am not bothered by the fact that
i am not understood by
those who lack the power or diligence to try.
I am bothered by what the ignorant or malicious who only
'understand' the worst and tritest of customs and beliefs attempt to force
on others because they have the power and diligence to do so.
74.SMY-74th Southern Mid-Lent
PROCREATIVE NEED AND GREED
The Earth provides enough to satisfy everybody's procreative need (his or
her need of children), but not to satisfy anyone's procreative greed (even
one man's or one woman's greed for an excessive number).
74.SEY-74th Southern Early Lent
THE WORSHIPBUILDING INDUSTRY
Not using the word god or the name (of) God with the connotation of
something good may require some courage in a
religionist society,
because there one risks the wrath, not of any omnipotent god, but of the
sometimes not much less omnipotent barons of the worshipbuilding industry.
(Model, paragraph

from the Book of Instruments.)
41 aSWW-74th Northern Late Lent
THE RIGHT TO LIVE
ON THE IMMUTABLE NORMS
Our attitude towards life and nonlife and towards causing, risking or
allowing certain transitions from life to nonlife, and from nonlife to
life, should reflect our adherence to the immutable norms:
the norm of inclusivity and
the norm of neutrality.
(Model, paragraph
F5136
from the Book of Fundamentals.)
41 aSWW-74th Northern Mid-Lent
THEOCENTRISM NOT OVER YET
The theocentric issue is the same for theists and atheists alike, the
future of God or gods being at stake.
Self-labeled atheists or 'antitheists' forget that all their continued
attempts at proving that God does not exist and how bad theism is, merely
serves the domain of the
theocentrist discourse,
while meanwhile the other domain misses out on any comparable zeal for the
evolution of a new, now
normistic
paradigm.
This is the main intellectual reason why the age of theocentrism is not
over yet: it is theists who keep it alive and atheists who keep it
kicking.
73.SEL-74th Northern Equinoctial
A PLANET TURNING WORSE
The continuously increasing human overpopulation of the world,
accompanied by human overconsumption, makes it turn
worse and worse at an ever madder pace.
Yet, the maddest are the men and women on this planet who are
supposed to possess the faculty of thinking, even to the extent of being
smarter than the nature they will not cease to degrade and destroy
by their number.
73.NMY-74th Northern Late Yule
PREFACE TO THE MODEL (2/2)
Only future generations will be able to tell how long before the year 1
the Model of Neutral-Inclusivity
was published for the first time.
Till then everyone is condemned to choose imperfect means to record the
moment an event like the first publication of this work took place.
Using a less imperfect frame of reference it may be said that this work
was printed and distributed for the first time
41 years after the end of
the Second World War.
This information also lays stress on one of the reasons for coming into
the open with the Model: that the end of the
supernaturalist,
exclusivist
era should not be marked by such a great catastrophe as a nuclear world
war.
The early readers can either stay with the ignorant and reactionary who
look backward to 'the year 1', or join those who, by adopting a new
course, look forward to the year 1.
Since 41 aSWW (the 41st ordinal year) there is an alternative.
41 aSWW-74th Northern Mid-Yule
PREFACE TO THE MODEL (1/2)
The work on the three books of
the Model of Neutral-Inclusivity
was not supported by any governmental or private agency, institute or
organization; neither was the author while writing these books.
It is precisely because no support by any organization, group or person
with national, military, party-political, class-linked, commercial,
proprietary, traditional or other such interests was, or had to be,
solicited that this work was made possible.
Being written in an
interparadigmatic period
of
denominationalism the
Model is addressed to the world, or to the learned world, at large; being
inclusivistic it is not
addressed to any country, or region of the world, in particular.
41 aSWW-74th Northern Early Yule
THE INDIVIDUALISM THAT EVEN COLLECTIVISTS
DARE NOT CRITICIZE
Individualism and collectivism are not proper goals in themselves.
If and when these 'opposites' are treated as such, the consequences will be
abominable.
Yet, it is amazing and disturbing that one expression of individualism is
never mentioned, except, perhaps, by totalitarians who think that
everything is the state's business: the idea that a human being is free
to have as many children as she or he wants, regardless of its negative
impact on our common environment, regardless of the destruction of nature
by human overpopulation and human overconsumption together.
In this connection individualism (with a fixation on rights) and
collectivism (with a fixation on duties) are two of a kind.
73.SEM-73rd Southern Late Lent
THE MONSTROUS MIXTURE
OF THEO- AND EGOCENTRISM
The mixture of theocentrism and egocentrism in one person's mind is a
psychic monster.
It will speak in terms of "God chose me to be something to a degree in
which He did not choose other people to be" and "God asked or commanded me
to do something in a way which He did not ask or command other people to
do".
It becomes a social monster when the two are combined in one group's
(tribe's, nation's) mental culture: "God elected us to be something to a
degree which He did not elect any other group (tribe, nation) to be" and
"God asked or commanded us to do something in a way which He did not ask
or command any other group (tribe, nation) to do".
73.SEL-73rd Southern Mid-Lent
SOMETHING SPE-CIAL
It is great when people define 'sustainable development goals' and try to
reach them.
SDG will help to combat the bad effects of human overconsumption.
It is outrageous when (the same) people refuse to think about a
'sustainable population equilibrium' and its good effects.
We need to pay SPE-cial attention to SPE in order to combat human
overpopulation on Earth, the other cause of the degradation of the natural
environment, if not the destruction of all human-scale nature.
73.SEM-73rd Southern Early Lent
SCIENCE OR RELIGION
Science can be wrong and scientists can work with terms and theories which
are more ideological than scientific, but where it is being threatened
there is only one alternative to science: supernaturalism, of which the
strongest brand is religion.
73.SMY-73rd Southern Equinoctial
THE FALLACY OF THE ONE-SIDED COIN
For the sake of convenience (and their own conviction) there are people
who tend to forget that a coin has two sides: they see a coin with a
symbolic image or text on it which they consider good (or, at any rate not
bad) and do not understand at all why others would consider it bad.
These unilateral coin characters show a complete lack of understanding,
because they think that those who disapprove of the image or text and even
express their dissatisfaction make a fuss about nothing.
At the same time they have no idea whatsoever of the fuss made by the
proponents of the image or text in question to get and/or keep it on the
coin in the first place.
Those who do not take into account that something that is important enough
to be used as a symbol can play an equally important role as an antisymbol
commit the fallacy of the one-sided coin.
73.SEY-73rd Southern Mid-Yule
NEITHER THE SELF NOR THE OTHER
Both complete egoism and complete altruism are exclusivist failures.
While the self may be the sole concern in a context where there is no
other, it cannot be in any larger context.
73.NLL-73rd Southern Early Yule
THE SHORTEST SATISFACTION
Honor for the honor — the biggest for the size — money
for the money — the most for the quantity — power for the
power — the longest for the length: none of them know lasting
satisfaction.
73.NLL-73rd Equatorial Month
A COUNTRY VIEW, NOT A WORLDVIEW
A so-called 'world(-)view' which is
any-particular-country-centered is a normative monstrosity.
Only a 'country view' may be one-particular-country-centered or, in
traditional terms, patriotic.
If what is supposed to be a (religion or a nonreligious) worldview
manifests tribalism or nationalism, it is not a worldview but an
exclusivist country view.
73.NML-73rd Northern Late Lent
TWO KINDS OF RELATIONSHIP
Human beings are born into this world with two kinds of relationship: one
with their mother, their father, the human beings nearby and far away;
the other with their immediate natural environment and all of nature,
especially human-scale nature, on this planet.
To live a full human life you will have to be nourished by, and you will
have to nourish, both of them.
73.NMY-73rd Northern Mid-Lent
THE ADMINISTERING ANGEL
In the past the church used to be blessed with many ministering angels: the
state that observed the religious holidays and waged the sectarian wars,
the state that paid the buildings and the priests (whatever they were
called), or, if it did not do so directly, then indirectly with all sorts
of exemptions, the state that took care of the theocentrist propaganda on
the flag, in the national anthem, on the money, and wherever possible, the
state that confined civil marriage to a marriage between one man and one
woman, and so on and so forth.
However, with the advent of human rights, and recently even the idea of an
inclusive society, none of these benefits are self-evident anymore.
Nowadays, there is only one angel left, an angel that administers what
remains of the estate; one that desperately keeps things in the old order
or tries to bring them back to it.
A world war between the churches (whatever they are called) of the One Holy
Book and of the other Holy Book may drive people back to the one or the
other church temporarily, when they will be forced to take sides.
After that, and also without such a terrible conflict, the administering
last angel of the church will stay behind, shattered and baffled by so
much emphasis on norms and values which the church never knew in 'her'
heyday.
72.SML-73rd Northern Equinoctial
COMMUNITY SPIRIT
Community spirit may be something beautiful; it may be something ugly
(albeit, perhaps, under a different label).
The question is what it is determined to create, to maintain or to destroy
(regardless of whether this community spirit is something to the material
advantage or disadvantage of yourself).
73.NEY-73rd Northern Late Yule
THE INS AND OUTS OF 'AN INCLUSIVE SOCIETY'
It has become fashionable in some circles to speak of 'an inclusive
society'.
But are these people aware of what it means for a society to be inclusive
without being exclusivistic?
(The diverseniks and exclusivist impostors may not even care.)
They may know some of the ins but too few of the outs.
71.NEM-73rd Northern Mid-Yule
ONE NATION, NEUTRAL AND INCLUSIVE
Should you ever be forced to choose between One Nation Under
God and One Nation, Neutral and Inclusive, choose the latter
for the good of everyone, theocentrists included.
60.NLY-73rd Northern Early Yule
NOTHING CHANGES, NOTHING ENDURES
In the realm of the ultimate everything is at rest, nothing flows.
In the realm of the instrumental everything is in a state of flux,
nothing stays still.
That is,
nothing changes but the nonultimate,
nothing endures but the ultimate.

'MAKING UP'
Some people claim that they are not willing to base themselves on what

cooked up one thousand or even thousands of years ago.

FORMULA OF THE NORM (2)
The
norm of inclusivity is the
ground-norm obtained by taking the universal version of the
non-metadoctrinal, nonpropositional principle of
discriminational, nondoxastic relevance and
by interpreting it in a catenically neutralistic way.
In short: it is the neutralistic interpretation of the principle of
relevance.
41 aSWW-72nd Southern Early Yule
FORMULA OF THE NORM (1)
The
norm of neutrality is the
ground-norm obtained by taking the non-metadoctrinal, nonpropositional
principle of catenated neutrality and by refining or interpreting it in a
relevantistic way.
In short: it is the relevantistic interpretation of the principle of
neutrality.

TEMPORARILY OR PERMANENTLY
The choice is between temporarily or permanently.
Be liberal and allow the spread of dictatorial ideas, be inclusive and
allow the spread of exclusivism, and your society shall be as you want
it to be, temporarily.
Be liberal or inclusive and let dictatorial ideas or exclusivism
not dominate or gain ground, and your society shall be as you want it to

DISTINGUISHING FANTASY FROM FACT
Supernaturalists may be good at distinguishing fantasy from fact.
When it comes to the crunch they are incapable of distinguishing fact
from fantasy.
71.SEY-72nd Northern Equinoctial
INCLUSIVITY YES, UNLESS;
DIVERSITY NO, ALTHO
Explanation: inclusivity yes, unless so-called "inclusivity" (or
"inclusiveness") fails to distinguish between the relevant
and the irrelevant, and attempts to include exclusivist thought,
symbolism and/or action; diversity no, because
diversity in itself is a
(catenically) extremist
value —the more diverse the better—
altho in practice
inclusivity often embraces a great deal of diversity —but not as an
end in itself— in the way it includes very diverse people, living
beings and things.
71.NEM-72nd Northern Late Yule
A 'MORE INCLUSIVE' RELIGION
Those who nowadays still like religion to be more liberal,
tolerant or inclusive (read "less
exclusivistic") resemble the people who used to go to
work by horse and wanted much faster horses at a time that the car had
already been invented.
71.NLL-72nd Northern Mid-Yule
LITERALISTS OF RELIGIOUS FICTION
The literalists of ancient or more recent religious fiction are, by direct
implication, the most supernaturalistic and,
by indirect implication, the most exclusivistic of
believers.
Yet, literally these so-called 'literalists' do not exist, for they will
always cherry-pick the passages from the
ancient Holy Books they find attractive and enforceable,
while keeping silent about the passages which even in the eyes of not
entirely brainwashed members of their own flock are silly or
pathological, if not blatantly immoral.
